Why all the Hate on Charlene?

It’s been less than three weeks since the Palace of Monaco announced the engagement of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco to Miss Charlene Wittstock, and while one assumes that the engaged couple and the principality are extremely happy, you can visit any royal discussion forum and get swept up by the intense dislike that is thrown Miss Wittstock’s way. It makes me wonder why everyone (or nearly everyone) hates on Charlene.

Royalty watchers all over the world must have seen it coming. At the wedding of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Charlene Wittstock was treated with all the honour the fiancée of a reigning Prince would receive, which fuelled rumours about a possible engagement, and now the Palace has confirmed: Prince Albert II of Monaco is engaged to Miss Charlene Wittstock.
