Bhutan King Married
Today the 31-year-old King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, married 21-year-old student Jetsun Pema in a small, traditional ceremony, which was held in an old Buddhist monastery a few miles outside the capital, Thimphu. Thousands lined the streets towards and around the monastery, in order to catch a glimpse of the royal couple.
King of Bhutan to marry in October
The 31-year-old King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the world’s youngest reigning monarch, announced at the opening of Parliament on Friday 20 May that he plans to marry in October. His bride is 20-year-old student Jetsun Pema, who was educated in Britain (at Regent’s College) and India (the Lawrence School in Sanawar) as well as Bhutan.
